Five hugs a day

At least 5 ideally 12 hugs a day keeps depression away. :-)

- For people who haven't slept for 24 hours, their IQs reduced by 10 points or more.

Babies who got enough touch grows better. Touch, like exercises and sleep, is the natural need of our body.

You find why and how on Tal-Ben Shahar's lesson "Harvard University 18 Positive Psychology 1504"

- To be known rather than to be validated, that is the mindset for successful relationships.

Exercise and meditation

Exercise is good for our body and mental. Just do it. Why and how? "Harvard University 16 Positive Psychology 1504" .

Meditation make us healthier and happier. Just do it. Why and how? "Harvard University 17 Positive Psychology 1504" .

I have heard that 20 minutes of meditation has the same effect as a catnap. Once (last year) I was very tired, so I decided to try a little meditation. I sat with legs crossed, eyes closed, hands on my knees and just focused on breathing in about 15-20 minutes, I really felt like I recovered efter a little sleep.

Almost every morning I do my exercise of "walking by hands and feet" in the living room. I just count my steps and the circles. This is also a kind of meditation.

When I wash up the dishes, I do not have stress, I focus on washing. This is relaxing and also a kind of meditation for me. :-)

Enjoy the journey

I have encouraged my friends with my own theory: One should always be positive during the process and believe in good results. Let's say you've been on the journey and have got a result. There are four options:
1. You were happy on the journey, and got good result. All well, congratulations.
2. You were happy on the journey, and got poor result. Well, you've had a good time on the journey anyway.
3. You were sad on the journey, and got poor result. Hm, what if you had enjoyed the scenery along the way.
4. You were sad on the journey, and got good result. Isn't it a little stupid to have that unnecessory sadness?

Moreover, you would achieve higher in option 2 than option 3. A positive attitude contributes to better performance, which many studies have proved.

Tal Ben-Shahar talked also why we should enjoy the journey at "Harvard University 15 Positive Psychology 1504" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5KTG7pHqowI&t=190s

Tal defined perfectionist as an incapacitating fear of failure that permeates our lives, especially those areas that we care about most. Difference between a perfectionist and a person who committed to excellence is their attitude to failure, their approch toward the journey. Persons committed to excellence see oppotunities of success in every step, even in failure.

Fail and learn

Why are so many people afraid to try new ideas or new things? Because they are afraid to fail, or afraid to not be perfect. Learn to fail, and fail to learn. There is no other way to learn. The most successful people are those who have failed most, they have failed and learnt much more and much quicker in one or another way.

Tal Ben-Shahar talked about how to overcome perfectionism. From being a perfectionist to persuiting excellence. "Harvard University 14 Positive Psychology 1504" at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_eMnQfYgPk&t=3552s

Luckily I have almost never been afraid to fail. As a child, I played a lot with my sister, with friends and with myself. I was good at most of the childrens games, I practiced very much, failed to learn. In the university, I played cards with my classmates, I played cards with myself when others were preparing for examinations.

No fear to failure, learning is more joyful and more effective. What can be the worst result? Having risk-control, we can run or fly.

We do not need to compare with others. We try to be the best of ourselves. Let's live up our full potential and help others to do so. :-)

Active and Alive

Building capacity, this is what positive psychology is about. It is about strengthening our immune system, making us more resilient. Like building a stronger motor so that we can better deal with hardships.

What do those who were successful and able to lead a healthy and happy life do? They set rituals for both work and for recovering. Recreation leads to creation.

Tal Ben-Shahar, one of the most intelligent persons in the world, who dedicates himself in teaching, goes over his lecture notes five times before each lecture. What can you wish more?
